The ingredients to our “best ever” mulling spices are a combination of some of the most delicious, fresh and fragrant organic spices available on the planet! As always we use our freshest spice and tea stock to create an exceptional product.
Mulled beverages are a welcome addition to any crisp cold day and are an especially lovely offering for a festive holiday celebration. This premium blend is a wonderful recipe of delectable spices usually not seen anymore in traditional mulling spices which have unfortunately been diminished to 3 to 5 of the more common spice varieties which are more readily available.
Our mulling spices may be used with almost any tea for a guilt-free low calorie beverage or you may wish to try mulled wine, fruit juice or cider for a warming and delicious hot drink. A simmering pot of apple cider with organic mulling spices makes the best potpourri EVER to fill your home with a warm, spicy and enticing natural fragrance. It takes a good half hour to mull a beverage properly and the wonderful aroma will last for hours.
Mulling spices are truly beautiful and you can purchase loose to simmer in the pot and strain upon serving or may prefer delivered ready to go in an organic muslin bag with food grade cotton ties. Especially lovely gift items as well.
Awesome all organic ingredients: crushed whole nutmeg, crushed whole cardamom pods, fair traded true (sweet) cinnamon chips, orange peel, lemon peel, ginger root, whole cloves, whole allspice, fair traded vanilla beans, star anise pods
Basic Mulling Directions:
A Pick a beverage to mull:
#1 Red wine (1/2 c of orange or pineapple juice added to a bottle of wine is a lovely flavour compliment)
#2 Brewed tea of choice (a bold black makes the best mulled tea)
#3 Apple or Cherry Cider (doesn't get much better than that!)
#4 Fruit juices: pear, cranberry, orange, pineapple, mixtures are nice as well like apple-cranberry or cranberry-raspberry.
B Put beverage choice in desired amount to mull in saucepan (a crock pot works well for this purpose too).
C Measure mulling spices and throw in an extra cinnamon stick or two if you are a cinnamon fan. Most mulling spices recommend 1 Tbsp. minimum per cup. We don't know if it is the quality of the spices making the difference but we do find this to be a bit too strong of a presence and recommend 1/2 Tbsp. (about 4g) per cup of beverage to be mulled. Heat slowly over medium heat until steaming and little bubbles form around the edges of the pot. This is known as the pre-boil, you do not want to reach a boil. Turn down heat to low, cover and let simmer happily and fragrantly for 20 minutes or so. Lovely to time this about 15 minutes prior to arrival of your guests to fill your home with an inviting aroma simmering on the stove or in a crock pot.
D If you are using a muslin spice bag remove the spice bag, if loose spices strain the lovely spices out of the liquid gold and enjoy.
